Effective as of February 7, 2023

San Patricio County Courts at Law revised operating procedures:

Bond Returnable court dates will now be conducted online.  All persons arrested for Class A or Class B misdemeanor criminal offenses filed in the San Patricio County Courts at Law will receive a Misdemeanor Bond Returnable Date upon being released from the San Patricio County Jail. 

On a Defendant’s Bond Returnable date, they are required to check online at the San Patricio County Clerk’s website to see if a case has been filed.  The Bond Returnable dockets will be posted on both the San Patricio County Clerk’s website (http://www.co.san-patricio.tx.us/page/sanpatricio.County.Clerk) and the San Patricio County Court at Law’s website (http://www.sanpatricioccal.org).  The dockets will be organized by the Bond Returnable Date.  If a case has been filed by the San Patricio County Attorney, then it will be assigned an Arraignment Court Date.  With the creation of the San Patricio County Court at Law No. 2, cases will be assigned as follows:

Cause numbers ending with a –A will be assigned to CCAL No. 1.

Cause numbers ending with a –B will be assigned to CCAL No. 2.

Defendants with multiple cases that are filed shall be assigned to one court.  The Court assigned the defendant’s first cause number filed will be assigned the additional causes notwithstanding the case number ending.

Operational Procedures for County Court at Law No. 1:   

Attorneys representing defendants should e-file a Notice of Appearance of Counsel and provide a courtesy copy to the court.  If you and your client wish to be excused from making an appearance, then you also need to e-file a Waiver of Arraignment 72 hours prior to the arraignment court date.  If you file the proper documents timely, then the defendant and attorney are excused from making an appearance and a copy of the pre-trial court date will be mailed to you at the address provided in your Notice of Appearance of Counsel.  If you are a court-appointed attorney who received the appointment prior to the arraignment date, then you do not need to make an appearance and a copy of the defendant’s pre-trial court date will be mailed to you.

On your Bond Returnable date, you are required to check online at the San Patricio County Clerk's website to see if your case has been filed.  The dockets will be posted on both the San Patricio County Clerk’s website (http://www.co.san-patricio.tx.us/page/sanpatricio.County.Clerk) and the San Patricio County Court at Law’s website (http://www.sanpatricioccal.org).  The dockets will be organized by your Bond Returnable Date.  If your case has been filed by the San Patricio County Attorney, then you will be assigned an Arraignment Court Date.  You can find your court date by looking at the San Patricio County Court at Law’s Misdemeanor Arraignment Court Date Information posted on both the San Patricio County Clerk's website and the San Patricio County Court at Law’s website.

Prior to your appearance for your assigned arraignment date, you will need to review the San Patricio County Court at Law’s Arraignment Information Advisory and be prepared on your court date to make a decision about how you want to handle your case.  You will need to either (1) hire an attorney to represent you; (2) sign a “Waiver of Attorney” and speak with the County Attorney; or (3) Request a Court-Appointed attorney from the San Patricio Pre-Trial Services Office.

    Misdemeanor Bond Returnable Information

    Please be advised you have been arrested for a Class A or Class B misdemeanor criminal offense.  This case will be heard in the San Patricio County Courts at Law of San Patricio County, Texas.

    Your release is contingent on your promise to appear and answer to the charge if a case is filed against you by the San Patricio County Attorney.  With this bond, your appearance is promised at all court dates until your case is finally resolved.
